2015 Interactive Notebook - 7th Grade Math
Below you will find pictures of my INB. I found many ideas online, and especially thank Sarah Hagan and her Math = Love blog. Since she freely shared, I feel obliged to do the same. I've modified many of her ideas down to my 7th graders. You can click on the picture to see it up close, or print it. If there is a foldable, it is linked in the text below it. If I got a foldable from a particular blog or website, I have tried to link directly to the page it is from when possible. Some of the templates I have purchased on Teachers pay Teachers, so I am linking you to the place to buy them. This is my third year with INB's, and I love them. My students come back and tell me that they love them, and that they use them in 8th grade and in the high school.
This year I was piloting a new math series and did less in my interactive notebooks in the fall. I will work on adding some more from last year.
I get many of my ideas from things posted on Pinterest. I have more pinned than I can do, but I use it as a resource for when I need something extra. If you would like to check out my PINS, you can do so by clicking here.

Equations & Expressions
I passed this one by my first sight of it because it didn't really make sense to me at first glance. This year, I looked a little harder at it, and fell in love with it. The hardest part with this one is teaching the parents how, so I put up some videos for the students to watch at home. They can be found here: Do Undo Demonstration Video , Demonstration Video 2, Demonstration Video 3. Since we spend so much time on Order of Operations, this method flows so much easier with my 7th graders. This template came from Sarah Hagan. CLICK HERE to find this template and many others.

These two activities are from the Hand's On Interactive Math Notebook, Grade 7, Common Core, by Yvonne and Brian Crawford. It can be purchased by CLICKING HERE. I like the artwork in the book, but next year I will shrink what I use from there, as it is all made for a full size spiral and I use a composition notebook. Some of the graphics seem a little young for 7th grade though. I feel it was worth the money.

Exponents & Factoring
This idea came from Sarah Hagan. I modified it to meet the needs of 7th grade common core. I just cut 8.5 x 11 paper longwise. CLICK HERE to find this template and many others.

This one is mine, using a template from Flippable Templates Mega Pack by Jennifer Smith-Sloan. You can click here to purchase.

Fractions
The MAD was taken from a PIN I found, but I'm not sure the original source. This is the link to the PIN. I took that pin and modified it.
|
Fraction, Decimal, Percent Conversions
Adapted from Math = Love. The original activity can be found HERE. I wanted to add some more to it, since the 7th graders still struggle with these conversions.

This is another Jennifer Sloan-Smith Creation. I like it because it is the same info as the previous page, but in a different format. Kids like both!. It can be purchased here.

Solid Geometry
This is a multi-day activity starting with surface area and extending to volume.
|
By gluing down only one face, students can fold the net to see the solid. Links to the first two templates can be found by clicking here.
|
Day 1 we cut, color paste, and work on vocabulary. We revisit these pages with Surface Area Lessons and then the volume lessons.
